…surely there are few things in life more powerful than a mother’s heartfelt
prayers for her child.
My sincere hope for you is that you know the priceless gift of a mother, grandmother,
aunt, or woman of faith who prays for you every day. She prays you grow in health and
wisdom, that you are filled with joy and laughter and protected from danger and things
that go bump in the night!
I am blessed to say that I have such a treasure, my mom, Patrina Sarver. She is
authentic…I have a laundry list of stellar qualities about her I want to share with
you…funny I would start there but tells you a bit about me, right? I value authenticity.
There are no perfect people, thus no perfect parents but I came to understand that my
Mom and Dad loved God all week long. Not just on Sunday’s or services during the
week at church but through the good and the bad, ups and downs, they lived authentic
lives serving God.
Is there any greater gift a parent can give their child than to walk out a life with Christ at
the center? What an amazing foundation to build upon. That He is truly God and who
we can turn to whatever the life event is that we are walking through, and He will be
there for us.
Yes, for those of you of a certain age, it was a bit like growing up with the Waltons, and
yes Leave it to Beaver. Night John Boy, right?
Mom carries a light within her. She made picnics in the back yard fun, bubble baths,
new puppies or heaven help me even new schools an adventure. I was a proud military
brat so always a new city, new neighborhood, new school and “gasp” a new Sunday
school room of new faces.
She’s my biggest supporter, my champion in life, and my best friend. From an early
age, I wanted to know God the way Mom knew God. She is truly a pearl of great price to
me and all who know her.
I pray you have someone dear who lifts your name to God. But if not, maybe we can be
that person for someone else. Imagine how many of those you see every day, in the
elevator, at the coffee shop, at the mailbox have no one to call their name in prayer
unless we do it?
Sounds very cliché, I know, but sometimes it may be as simple as a smile, so they know
they are seen.
Thank you Mom for being the kindest, dearest, warmest heart to ever walk the earth.
Forever,
Deb
